The Power of One

ONE
hour to deliver meals; ONE day every week; ONE gallon of gasoline.
If you can spare one hour to deliver meals, one day every week and one gallon of gasoline, then Lubbock Meals on Wheels needs you!  Help us deliver meals one day a week Monday through Friday to the homebound, elderly or disabled of our community.  A one hour orientation is required.

A special opportunity available for businesses is our Corporate Volunteer Program.  Local businesses are encouraged to participate by allowing employees to deliver meals during their lunch hour.  This allows employers to be civic minded without excessive loss of staff time.  For convenience, the required orientation may be held at your place of business.  Approximately 30 businesses are currently involved in this program.

Please be the ONE who brightens someone’s day by knocking on their door and delivering Meals on Wheels.  If you are interested in this volunteer opportunity, please contact the RSVP office at 743-RSVP (7787), and we will put you in contact with Lubbock Meals on Wheels.

Volunteer Opportunities:

Breedlove Foods, Inc.
, a non-profit organization dedicated to feeding the hungry (locally and worldwide), is seeking volunteers who are interested in regularly scheduled opportunities.  Duties will include receiving and directing phone calls, taking messages, receiving and directing visitors and periodic light clerical work.  The workload is light and knowledge of computers is not required.  The workstation is located at the reception counter in the lobby of the Breedlove facility, 1818 N. MLK Boulevard.  Regular business office hours are 8:00 am to 5:00 pm, Monday – Friday.  Time schedules will be developed with each individual volunteer.  If you are interested in this volunteer opportunity, please contact the RSVP office at 743-RSVP (7787).

To volunteer, or for more information about these or other volunteer positions, please call the RSVP office at 743-7787.

HOW do I join RSVP?

Becoming a member of RSVP is simple as long as you are at least 55 and have some time to volunteer. Just call the office at 743-7787 and chat with Karon McDowell about your interests. If you are not certain what you would like to do, we can mention several current volunteer opportunities and send you a list of the sort of jobs which RSVP members are presently doing to whet your appetite. If you have a special skill or talent that you would like to utilize, we will search to find just the right job for you. Just mail in the enrollment form (requires Adobe Reader) and we will call you!
